Bloomfield 2018 Memorial Day: Parade, Roads, Garbage/Recycling

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The 2018 Bloomfield Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 28.

Road closures will be in effect from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Broad Street will be closed from Bay Avenue to Bloomfield Avenue. All intersecting streets within will be closed as well, township officials said.

The parade begins at 9:30 a.m., officials stated.

HOLIDAY GARBAGE/RECYCLING

The Bloomfield Department of Public Works and Parks will be closed on Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day.

The DPW said that the following changes will take place for 2018:

• There will be no GARBAGE pickup on Monday, May 28th, therefore your next garbage pickup will be on Thursday, May 31st. (It will also serve as your bulk pickup day as scheduled.) There will be no other changes to the garbage schedule for the week.
• There will be no RECYCLING pick up on Monday, May 28th, therefore both Monday and Tuesday's commingled RECYCLING (bottles/cans) will be picked up on Tuesday, May 29th. There will be no other changes to the Recycling schedule for the week.
• There will be no BIODEGRADABLE bag pick up on Monday, May 28th. We anticipate picking them up on Tuesday, but if they are not picked up, please leave them out and we will get them by Wednesday. There will be no other changes to the schedule.
• Alternate side of the street parking will be suspended for the Memorial Day Holiday.
• Our Recycling Depot, located here at 230 Grove St, will be open as scheduled on Saturday, May 26th, from 9am to 1pm. If you need any additional information, call 973-680-4127.
