Bloomfield Animal Shelter’s ‘Unluckiest Dog’ Catches A Break
Browny was given to a family "friend" who then let him go. He was later found terrified behind a dumpster.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — One of the “unluckiest dogs to come into the Bloomfield Animal Shelter” has finally caught a break, staff reported Monday.
In February, the story of Browny – a playful pooch found “terrified” behind a dumpster – captured the hearts of thousands of people.
Here’s a recap of his sad tale, according to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter:

"He was first found as a terrified stray behind a dumpster in July. It turned out, his original family was forced to move and gave him to a 'friend'… This 'friend' claimed that Browny had too much energy for him, so instead of surrender to a shelter, he let him loose. Thankfully his original rabies tag was still attached and we were able to contact his original owner, find out this information and agree to find him a home."
But Browny's bad luck didn't end there, the shelter said.
"Two months later, he was adopted to a family that claimed they'd love him forever. A week later he was returned because they 'kept him in a room that he would try and break out of.' Thankfully, he was adopted shortly after by a local loving family where he enjoyed his backyard, new canine brother, and young human sibling to play with. Unfortunately, due to unexpected changes in the household, Browny returned to us in November after not getting along with a new resident."
After home #1 and home #2 didn’t work out, the staff at Bloomfield Animal Shelter tried their best to get his “goofy personality” and “camera-ready smile” in front of potential adopters. They took him to community adoption events, reached out to local media, shared his story online… all to no avail.

But now, after spending the last nine months going in and out of a shelter, Browny has finally got a dose of good fortune, staff reported Monday.
“We have some very exciting news to share,” the Bloomfield Animal Shelter wrote. “Browny has been transferred to Working Dogs K9 Academy!”
According to its website, Working Dogs K9 Academy is a professional boarding and training facility that rescues and rehabilitates dogs. Over the last five years, Working Dogs K9 Academy has saved more than 500 canines.
“We will miss him, but know he deserves a better chance at finding a furever home,” the shelter stated.
