Bloomfield Barber Shop Reopens After Fire Destroyed Everything
A fire ravaged Kolby's Place in Bloomfield. But now it's back in business, and the community couldn't be happier.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield barber shop and salon is back in business after a fire destroyed everything earlier this year.
In January, a four-alarm blaze ripped through a commercial building at 55 Washington Street. By the time the flames were extinguished, several local businesses, including Kolby's Place Barber Shop, found themselves ravaged and left in the cold.

After the fire, the staff and owner of Kolby's Place launched an online fundraiser, reporting that the business – which employed 11 licensed barbers and stylists at the time – had been “completely destroyed.”

However, there was a ray of hope, staff said.
“We are working very hard to secure another location so we can continue to service those who visit ‘The Heart of Bloomfield,’” the GoFundMe campaign stated.

That hope has since blossomed into a full-blown success story, according to the Bloomfield Center Alliance.
The group posted a message of congratulations on Thursday:
“Out of the ashes of the fire that destroyed his barber shop back in January, business owner Qorrell Wright has come back to Bloomfield Center with the recent opening of Kolby’s Styling Salon (595 Bloomfield Avenue). The Bloomfield Center Alliance is so pleased to share this news and grateful to Mr. Wright for his commitment to stay in the community that he’s been serving since 2005. Please join us in wishing ‘Q’ and his entire team the best of luck at the new location!”
