Bloomfield School Board, Town Council: 2020 Election Results
UPDATED: Unofficial results show a tight race for the Bloomfield Board of Education. Town Council candidates ran unopposed.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Polls have closed and ballots are being counted for Tuesday’s general election in New Jersey, which took place mostly via mail due to the coronavirus.
In addition to national, state and county races, Bloomfield residents voted on candidates for the local town council and board of education. As of Thursday night, Jessica Salinas, Nadeisha Greene and Kasey Dudley were leading a close race for school board.

It’s not clear when certified results will be released in Essex County. Due to the pandemic, mail-in ballots postmarked on Nov. 3 will be accepted by the clerk’s office until 8 p.m. on Nov. 10, the same day provisional ballots will be counted. The clerk has until Nov. 23 to certify the results and remit them to state officials.

BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL BOARD
A total of six people are running for three seats on the Bloomfield Board of Education. Each term lasts three years. Candidates include Satenik Margaryan, Kasey Dudley, Nadeisha Greene, Jessica Salinas, Ellen Rogers and Thomas Heaney.
According to early results, Salinas, Greene and Dudley are leading a tight race as of Thursday. Here are the unofficial results as of 5:36 p.m., according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Kasey Dudley - 6,241
- Nadeisha Greene - 6,423
- Thomas Heaney - 5,617
- Satenik Margaryan - 4,892
- Ellen Rogers - 6,097
- Jessica Salinas - 7,276
The Experienced, Certified, Leadership slate, which includes Salinas, Rogers and Heaney, issued a statement about the early results on Friday, calling it a "close race":
"We are very grateful for the thousands of voters so far who have put their faith in our team with their votes ... At this point, with mail-in ballots still being received and provisional ballots not yet counted, it is too early to determine the definitive winners of this election. We are confident in a positive result once all votes are counted, and would once again like to thank the residents of Bloomfield."
BLOOMFIELD TOWN COUNCIL
In Bloomfield, there are three open seats on the Bloomfield Township Council. Each term last for three years.
Jenny Mundell (Ward 1), Nicholas Joanow (Ward 2) and Sarah Cruz (Ward 3), each ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination in their respective wards. Here are the unofficial results as of 5:36 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Jenny Mundell - 5,072
- Nicholas Joanow - 5,833
- Sarah Cruz - 4,978
