Bloomfield Nonprofit To Hold ‘Listening Session’ On Local News

The Bloomfield Information Project is partnering with Social Impact Studios to host a "listening session" for Essex County residents.

The Bloomfield Information Project is partnering with Social Impact Studios to host a listening session for Essex County residents to share their experience with local news and information on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. on Zoom. You can register for the event here.

This is the first in a series of listening sessions the nonprofit local news organization in Bloomfield will be hosting this year. And it is among the many virtual gatherings throughout New Jersey to help design a statewide strategy to support more informed communities and address the growing problem of news deserts and misinformation.

Social Impact Studios is hosting a statewide public-engagement campaign on behalf of the NJ Civic Information Consortium, a first-in-the-nation project established by the State of New Jersey in 2018 to respond to the local news crisis through an expansion of state-level funding for public service media and technology.

The Bloomfield Information Project is a public service journalism lab working to provide the news, information, and connection people need to live their best life in and around Bloomfield, New Jersey. Its work informs a national initiative to reinvent and expand public service journalism, media, and technology.
