Bloomfield Obituary: James Walsh, Retired Police Lieutenant
The former Bloomfield resident and retired police lieutenant was 62-years-old.

Retired Newark Police Department lieutenant James Walsh passed away on Jan. 5.
The following obituary comes courtesy of Levandoski Grillo Funeral Home:
“James P. Walsh, 62 of Stroudsburg, PA, formerly of Bloomfield, entered into eternal rest at his home. Born in Newark, he lived in Bloomfield before moving to Stroudsburg, 11 years ago. James was a Police Lieutenant with the Newark Police Department before retiring in 2005. He was very active with FOP, SOA and PBA.

“He loved the simple things in life, listening to music, gardening and being an amateur photographer. He was an all-around sports fan, rooting for the Bruins, Yankees, Colts and Celtics.
“He is predeceased by his parents, Irving & Joan Walsh & his sister Gail Dreyer. Surviving to cherish his memory is his precious granddaughter Alivia, his son, Christopher Walsh & his wife Angela, his siblings, John Walsh & his wife Linda, & George Walsh.

“He is also survived by his niece & nephew and their children, who were much more to him than that, Anthony Dreyer & his wife Elyse (Ellery & Julian) & Melissa Gault & her husband Robert (Cavan & Erin) in addition to many great friends and brothers in blue.
