Bloomfield Police Accuse Newark Man Of Shooting Victim In Hand
Bloomfield detectives recovered video surveillance from the area after the shooting, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police have arrested a Newark man accused of shooting a victim in the hand last month, authorities said.

“Upon police arrival, it was determined that a male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right hand. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment prior to police arrival. Detective bureau personnel responded to the scene, along with Bloomfield police crime scene units, and gathered key pieces of evidence from the scene. Bloomfield detective bureau personnel recovered video surveillance from the surrounding area and worked diligently investigating this incident.”
Following their investigation, Bloomfield detectives identified the alleged shooter as Andre King, 34, of Newark, authorities said.
Detectives conducting surveillance saw King exit his residence on Tuesday morning and get into a vehicle registered to his fiancé. Police then moved in and apprehended King on an active warrant, authorities said.

King was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
