BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police will be enforcing drivers license documents that no longer qualify for an extension past their expiration date or expire, authorities announced Monday.

The Bloomfield Division of Public Safety explained more about the initiative in a social media message on Monday:

“The Bloomfield Police Department is conducting enforcement of driver's license documents that no longer qualify for an extension past their expiration dates. During the coronavirus crisis, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission extended the expiration date to December 31, 2020 for all standard driver's licenses, permits, standard non-driver IDs, vehicle registrations, inspections and temporary tags. The Motor Vehicle Commission has not granted an extension for those documents. It also has not given an extension to commercial driver's licenses (CDL) and commercial learner's permits (CLP), which were set to expire between March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021. Both will now expire February, 28, 2021. Please visit https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/index.html for more information.”
