Bloomfield School Board Race Comes Down To Wire: Election Results
UPDATED: Unofficial results show a tight race for the Bloomfield Board of Education. Town Council candidates ran unopposed.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Polls have closed and ballots are being counted for the general election in New Jersey, which took place mostly via mail due to the coronavirus.
In addition to national, state and county races, Bloomfield residents voted on candidates for the local town council and board of education. As of Nov. 11, Jessica Salinas, Nadeisha Greene and Kasey Dudley were leading a close race for school board. Jenny Mundell, Nicholas Joanow and Sarah Cruz each ran unopposed for town council.

It’s not clear when certified results will be released in Essex County. Due to the pandemic, mail-in ballots postmarked on Nov. 3 were accepted by the clerk’s office until Nov. 10, the same day provisional ballots were counted. The clerk has until Nov. 20 to certify the results and remit them to state officials.

BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL BOARD
A total of six people ran for three seats on the Bloomfield Board of Education. Each term lasts three years. Candidates included Satenik Margaryan, Kasey Dudley, Nadeisha Greene, Jessica Salinas, Ellen Rogers and Thomas Heaney.
According to early results, Salinas, Greene and Dudley are leading a tight race as of Wednesday, Nov. 11. Here are the unofficial tallies, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Kasey Dudley - 6,648
- Nadeisha Greene - 6,867
- Thomas Heaney - 5,971
- Satenik Margaryan - 5,170
- Ellen Rogers - 6,506
- Jessica Salinas - 7,807
BLOOMFIELD TOWN COUNCIL
In Bloomfield, there are three open seats on the Bloomfield Township Council. Each term last for three years.
Jenny Mundell (Ward 1), Nicholas Joanow (Ward 2) and Sarah Cruz (Ward 3), each ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination in their respective wards. Here are the unofficial results as of Wednesday, Nov. 11, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Jenny Mundell - 5,373
- Nicholas Joanow - 6,155
- Sarah Cruz - 5,486
