Bloomfield Schools Get Donation Of 6,000 Bottles Of Water

When Bloomfield students return to classrooms, water fountains will be off. A local ShopRite stepped up to help quench their thirst.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — When Bloomfield public school students return to classrooms on April 19, water fountains will be turned off – part of the district’s effort to prevent coronavirus infection. And that’s why a local ShopRite decided to donate thousands of bottles of water to help welcome students back.

According to district officials, the Brookdale ShopRite recently donated 6,000 bottles of water for students, who are due to return back for hybrid learning next week. Read More: Bloomfield Schools Move To Hybrid Timetable Ahead Of Reopen

“We wanted to do something to welcome the students back and since the water fountains in the schools will be off, we felt this would be a great service on the first day of school,” said Neil Greenstein of Brookdale ShopRite.

Terry Mullane, chair of the Bloomfield Educational Foundation, said the store has been one of the group’s longtime supporters, and has previously sponsored race and walk-a-thons, scholarships for college-bound high school seniors, and its annual galas.

“This gift is very generous and typical of the way in which they support their community,” Mullane said.
