Winter Storm In Bloomfield: Updates On Travel, Parking, Trash
UPDATED: A winter storm will continue to affect Bloomfield's town services into Tuesday. "Please avoid unnecessary travel," officials said.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A winter storm will continue to affect Bloomfield's town services into Tuesday, officials say.
State officials have imposed travel restrictions, and weather forecasters predict that a nor'easter could impact New Jersey well into Tuesday. Heavy snow is possible and winds could gust as high as 50 mph. More than an inch per hour could fall during the height of the storm, which could be anytime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said. Bloomfield town officials released the following statement on Monday:

"Please avoid unnecessary travel during this time. We are actively plowing all roadways and will continue until the end of the storm. All vehicles parked in a school or recreation lot may remain there until noon on Wednesday. Garbage and recycling pick up for Tuesday has been canceled. Your next recycling pick up will be Saturday, Feb. 6."
The Bloomfield Division of Public Safety reminded residents about local parking restrictions during snowy weather.
“Please familiarize yourself with the designated ‘snow streets’ in town,” officials stated. “If there is a sign on your street that reads “No parking when road is snow covered” then your vehicle must be moved or it will be subject to ticket and/or tow. Please use your driveway if you have one and offer a spot to a neighbor in need.”

The Bloomfield public works department gave an update about garbage and recycling on Tuesday:
“Garbage and recycling collection for Tuesday, February 2 has been canceled. Garbage will be collected on Friday, February 5. Recycling will be collected on Saturday, February 6. There are no other changes to the schedule at this time.”
BLOOMFIELD SCHOOLS
The Bloomfield Public School District implemented a virtual half-day schedule for all students and staff on Monday due to the weather forecast. All after-school activities and food distributions were also canceled.
