Clean Up Event At Watsessing Park In Essex County

Come help clean up Watsessing Park in Bloomfield and East Orange on Nov. 5.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The Friends of Watsessing Park Conservancy (FOWP) is hosting a park cleanup of Watsessing Park in Bloomfield and East Orange from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.

According to event organizers, there are two primary goals to the event: to maintain the trees that were planted on Earth Day in April and to cleanup specific areas of the park that tend to accumulate litter.

  • clean up the appearance of each tree planting area
  • mark trees with pink ribbons
  • repair the fences around each tree planting
  • install new signs to mark the trees

Refreshments will be provided. Participants should enter at the Glenwood Avenue and Maolis Avenue park entrance and meet next to the Lawn Bowling club. The event rain date is Nov. 12.

"We have organized a fall cleanup for the last three years and bring together groups, elected officials and residents from Bloomfield, East Orange and Glen Ridge,” said Gouri Sadhwani, president of the Friends of Watsessing Park Conservancy.

“We have had wonderful support from all three towns in the past with over 200 people coming out to help maintain and preserve the park and its rich history as one of the oldest county parks in the country,” he added.
