McCarthy: Mollica is the Right Choice for Mayor

Bloomfield Mayor, a Democrat who declined to run for reelection, throws his support to the Republican candidate.

Written by Raymond McCarthy

For the last 12 years I have had the distinct privilege to be the Mayor of the great Township of Bloomfield.  I have over those years come to meet and know more residents then I can count.  The one resounding comment that has been voiced is that they all believe that we are to always put Bloomfield First.

At this time I want to address the community about the upcoming election.  As many have seen in various outlets I did voice my opinion on why Michael Venezia should not be Mayor of Bloomfield.  In this letter to the good people of Bloomfield I want to tell you why Russ Mollica should be the next Mayor of Bloomfield.

First off I feel that Mr. Mollica is a proven business man who has a great knack for the numbers.  He has a great command of how a budget should be formed and what is necessary to keep the Township budget in order to help stabilized the taxes in Town.  Over my three years with Councilman Venezia that is something that was not foremost on his agenda.  Out of three budget votes Mr. Venezia missed one vote and never made any attempts to make a reduction in any budget.  As a matter of fact, in the budget for 2013 he could have agreed with my reduction of the Law Department and Tax Attorney’s fees and reduced the budget by $200,000 but he chose to vote against it and thus keep his vendor friends free to continue to oil his election campaign.

Second, Mr. Mollica is not hooked up to any party bosses.  Mr. Venezia is.

Plain and simple, Mr. Venezia has, along with the Democratic Chairman, continued to take ungodly amounts of money for their campaigns while making sure that the Vendors all have a job with the Township of Bloomfield. Please don’t get me wrong; according to our Pay to Play policy, this is not illegal.

Words more like greedy and unethical are much better words to be used.  No man can have two masters.  You are either committed to the People of Bloomfield or the Vendors.  I can say without hesitation that Mr. Mullica is for the People, all the People of Bloomfield.  Mr. Venezia, just look at his elect reports.

So on Tuesday, November 5, remember that this election is more important to the People of Bloomfield and not the Party Boss.  Cast you vote for Russ Mollica and his Council Candidates of Maribel Perez, Zach Smith and Peter Santana. I will certainly do that to continue the growth of Bloomfield.

Sincerely

Mayor Raymond J. McCarthy
