"Modern Mexican cuisine" and some seriously awesome tequila. That's what El Toro Loco hopes will be a winning combo in Bloomfield.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — “Modern Mexican cuisine” and some seriously awesome tequila. That’s the recipe that the co-owner of the El Toro Loco Modern Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar hopes will make for magic at his new restaurant in Bloomfield.
Last week, Bloomfield officials and restaurant co-owner Kishan Patel gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 80 Washington Street, a block that’s also home to several other restaurants including Aki Asian House, Anthony’s and Essex Junction Craft Kitchen and Bar. Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia welcomed the new restaurant and helped cut the ribbon on Dec. 14. He was joined by representatives from the Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA), Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce and Bloomfield College, all of whom wished the new restaurant well.

“I am pleased to welcome El Toro Loco Mexican Restaurant to Bloomfield,” Venezia said. “I hope they will embrace and add to the sense of community that many businesses in our downtown area have fostered, by making residents and patrons feel comfortable, and contributing to the cleanliness of downtown. I am sure this new restaurant will embrace these values we have here in Bloomfield, and will be welcomed by residents for such. Welcome to Bloomfield, and good luck!”
“The opening of this new restaurant means that there is yet another reason for people from near and far to visit Bloomfield Center and check out our emerging restaurant scene,” agreed Bloomfield Center Alliance Executive Director Ollyn Lettman.

Patel said that his restaurant will focus on bringing “inventive, modern Mexican cuisine” to the area. In addition, the eatery’s tequila bar will give aficionados more than 100 flavors to choose from.
Patel said that the restaurant will also hold special promotions and events, including ladies’ nights, happy hours and salsa dancing.
“We really look forward to working with the township, the BCA and the organizations we’ve met so far to host events and serve the residents of Bloomfield,” he said.
