OPEN HOUSE! St. Thomas the Apostle School Enrolling ALL GRADES

St. Thomas the Apostle School will be holding an Open House on Sunday January 26th for all grades.

St. Thomas the Apostle School, will be holding an Open House for everyone to come and see the school on Sunday January 26th from 10am-1pm. Information will be available for our school, academics, admissions, various during and after school activities, athletics, and our Pre-K 3 & 4 programs.

Students in grades Prek-3 through 4th are in self contained classrooms (remaining stationary in their core subjects Language Arts, Science, Reading, Math, Religion, and Social Studies). Grades 5-8 switch classes between teachers for their subjects, their Homeroom teachers teach Religion.

We attend mass once a month as a community, on every first Friday. Each month a different grade is in charge of the lecturing, intercessions and bringing up the gifts.

We have a buddy program in the school which involves students in grades K, 1, & 2 with students in the older grades 6,7 & 8.

Over 100 Chrome Books in the school

8th Grade students have 1:1 Chromebooks

Over 60 IPads in the building for research and educational resources.

A fully functioning state of the art computer lab equipped with 25 Mac Desktop Computers. A science lab opened to all grades and a synergistic lab which is utilized in grades 6-8.

Morning Care Available at 7am daily

Aftercare Available 3-6pm daily

Full or 1/2 Day Pre-K 3 & 4 Programs

Handwriting and penmanship in grades K-3

Accelerated Mathematics in the middle school beginning in grade 6. Students entered into this program are selected based off of past report cards, standardized testing, and recommendations from prior teachers. Students who complete this program will have the ability to pass out of Algebra 1 Honors in High-school.

STREAM Program-in coordination with the Archdiocese of Newark and the United Nations Sustainability Goals students in grades 5-7 create and research projects to assist in the growth of our world. Students in the other grades complete STREAM as well however without the use of the STREAM FAIR, and bi-laws of the United Nations.

Trout in the Classroom-Students in the 6th Grade raise trout in the classroom in conjunction with the New Jersey TIC Program (Trout in the Classroom)-in May the students release the trout after learning about their habitats and lives throughout the year.

Spanish, Art, Music, Physical Education, Library and technology available to all grades

School Activities include: Drama, Chess, STEM, Italian, Chamber Choir, Band, Social Actions Committee, NJHS, Peer Tutoring, Reading Lab, Book Club & Robotics

After School Athletics: Cheerleading, Basketball (Boys and Girls Grades 3-8), Volleyball (Girls 5-8), Softball (Girls 5-8), Track & Field (Boys & Girls 1-8)

Security enhanced facility which emphasizes the notion of safety in our schools and on our campus. This includes multiple door swipes, over 40 cameras, a man-trap in the front vestibule to avoid piggy backing, and walkie talkies which are used by all who have students outside the building for recess, gym, or activities.

We hold a Fire Drill, Lock Down Drill, and Shelter in Place Drill monthly. Just last week we finalized the transition to a brand new fire alarm system.
