Police Car Chase Starts In Glen Ridge, Ends In Bloomfield: Cops

Police charged a New Jersey man with eluding and resisting arrest after a traffic stop turned into a car chase in Essex County.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police in Glen Ridge charged a New Jersey man with eluding and resisting arrest after a traffic stop turned into a car chase last week, authorities said.

According to the Glen Ridge Police Department, an officer saw a vehicle speeding north on Midland Avenue at 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 2.

The officer stopped the driver, later identified as Dean Dvorovy, 53, of Berkeley Heights, on Maolis Avenue.

Dvorovy initially pulled over for the officer, but then tried to drive away from the scene. He was apprehended at the intersection of Maolis Avenue and Glenwood Avenue in Bloomfield, police said.

Authorities charged Dvorovy with resisting arrest and eluding police, and issued him multiple traffic citations.

Dvorovy was also found to have active warrants for his arrest. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility, police said.
