Prosecutor: Bloomfield Pair Busted in Large-Scale Drug Distribution Ring

Two Bloomfield residents were among 20 arrested following a yearlong investigation into a multi-tiered narcotics distribution ring, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

A large amount of narcotics—the most prescription drugs seized in the Union County Prosecutor's Office history—and cash were confiscated as authorities raided about 12 locations in Essex and Union counties, including an Ampere Parkway residence, between late Friday and Monday, the prosecutor's office said.

Bloomfield residents Aristedes Statiroudis, 38, and Michael Dolias, 41, were among those arrested.

Statiroudis was charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute more than 5 ounces of MDMA ("Molly"), second-degree conspiracy to distribute marijuana, second-degree possession with intent to distribute more than 5 pounds of marijuana, third-degree possession of MDMA, third-degree possession of cocaine and fourth-degree possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana. His bail was set at $300,000.

Dolias was charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute more than 5 ounces of MDMA, second-degree possession with intent to distribute more than 5 pounds of marijuana, second-degree possession of MDMA and fourth-degree possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $250,000.

The investigation revealed a Grier Avenue location in Linden housed a fully functional heroin mill, the prosecutor's office said. The building was fortified with thick planks of wood mounted on the insides of doors and a comprehensive surveillance system, the prosecutor's office said.

Similar surveillance systems were also in place at the Ampere Parkway location as well as at an apartment on West Grand Street in Elizabeth, the prosecutor's office said.

About $116,500 was seized as well as 4.5 kilograms of MDMA, 60 grams of crack cocaine, 140 grams of cocaine, 140 grams of heroin, 14,000 counterfeit Viagra pills and more than 100 bottles containing a total of more than 10,000 units of various prescription pills, the prosecutor's office said.

This was the Union County Prosecutor's Office's largest seizure of prescription drugs and was more than the Union County Forensic Lab had processed between 2011 and 2013.

The drugs had a combined street value of more than $525,000, the prosecutor's office said. Two handguns and four vehicles—an Acura MDX, Chevy Tahoe, Mercedes-Benz sedan and a Jeep Grand Cherokee—were seized during the raids.

The investigation began with the Union County Prosecutor's Office and the Linden Police Department looking into the alleged drug sales at the Grier Avenue location, the prosecutor's office said.

Authorities determined Anthony McGriff, 27, of Linden, and Dondric Hall, 34, of Rahway, were being supplied by Sergio Pardo, 41, of South Plainfield, and Statiroudis with each of the men claiming a cut of the drug profits, according to the prosecutor's office.

McGriff and Hall are each high-ranking members of the G-Shine set of the Bloods street gang in Linden, Elizabeth, Rahway and Roselle, the prosecutor's office said.

“This investigation initially marked an effort to work with the Linden Police Department to remove what had become a thorn in the side of that community," Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park said.

“Yet it ultimately developed into a wide-reaching operation involving a dozen jurisdictions working together to dismantle a multi-tiered distribution ring that essentially served as a ‘one-stop shop’ for illegal drugs being sold throughout the county. We could not be prouder of the dedication of the investigators who worked on this case and the extraordinary degree of cooperation they exhibited."
