Students Honored For Columbus Day Essays

This month, the Bloomfield UNICO CLUB honored Bloomfield Elementary School students for taking part in the Unico Columbus Day Essay Contest.

Paul Alongi and UNICO Executive Board Members presented the honors to the students on Monday, Oct. 14 at the Bloomfield Green in front of the statue of Christopher Columbus.

Bloomfield Mayor Raymond McCarthy and Essex County Freeholder Brendan Gill addressed the assembled students and their families, Bloomfield school principals, teachers and central office administration.

After the students were presented their plaques and certificates, the Unico membership treated attendees to their traditional pancake breakfast at the Civic Center.
