TNVR Supporters In Essex County Trap 32 Cats In 3 Days (VIDEO)
It's a tale of many paws working together in Montclair and Bloomfield.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — It’s a tale of many “paws” working together in Essex County.
Montclair-based nonprofit Communities Promoting Animal Welfare NJ (CPAW NJ) recently teamed up with local spay/neuter clinic People for Animals (PFA) to help a woman in Bloomfield come to the aid of a large community of outdoor cats living in her neighborhood.
Through their combined work, CPAW NJ and PFA – a statewide nonprofit that works with Bloomfield to support trap, neuter, vaccinate, return (TNVR) efforts – managed to trap 32 cats in just three days, the group reported. (Watch a video of how it was done below)

According to CPAW NJ:
“A plan was made for CPAW NJ volunteers to use their traps and trap three evenings in a row, while PFA handled neighbor communications and trapped during the day, transporting the trapped cats, performing the spay/neuter, recovery and then released the cats. Bloomfield Township, in support of TNVR, provided funding for spay/neuter.”
Information about the location of the Bloomfield community cat colony wasn’t available for release, a spokesperson said.

According to CPAW NJ, the successful campaign demonstrated “the power of collaboration and the lifesaving work of TNVR.”
“Although considered to be the most humane approach to cat overpopulation problems, TNVR is a practice that many people are not aware of,” CPAW NJ stated.
