2 Firefighters Injured At Mother's Day House Fire In Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Two firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in Bridgewater on Mother's Day. (See photos below)

The fire broke out at a home on Coyle Trail at 12:08 p.m. on Sunday in the Martinsville section of town, said Bridgewater Police Captain John Mitzak.

"The residents were home at the time of the fire and everyone was able to get out safely," said Mitzak.

Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department said when they arrived they "were met with a heavy smoke condition on Coyle Trail, and set to work extinguishing a heavily seated fire in the second floor and attic area of a single-family home."

While battling the fire two firefighters were injured and taken to an area hospital. One firefighter was cut on glass and needed several stitches and the other firefighter had a leg/foot injury. Both were treated and released, said Mitzak.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Helping Martinsville Firefighters were Finderne Fire, Bound Brook Fire, Warren Fire, Green Knoll Fire, South Bound Brook Fire, Liberty Corner Fire, Somerset County Mutual Aide Coordinators, Martinsville Rescue, Bradley Gardens Rescue, the Bridgewater Fire Officials office, Bridgewater Construction Code and the Bridgewater Police Department.
