Large 5 Acre Brush Fire Extinguished After 4-Hour Battle In Bridgewater: Video
13 fire departments from across Somerset County came to help extinguish the large brush fire on Sunday night.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ ? Volunteer firefighters from all over Somerset County helped to extinguish a large 5-acre brush fire on Sunday night.
Around 6 p.m., the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department was called to fight a large brush fire in the woods behind the Martinsville Gardens near Washington Valley Road and Mt. Horeb Road in Bridgewater.
Bill Rose with the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department told Patch the fire was caused by a tree knocking down a 38,000-volt power line.

After more than four hours of hard work, the fire was declared under control and turned over to the New Jersey Forestry Service.
"It was probably the most difficult terrain in our area, and couple that with wind and weather conditions, and it becomes extremely challenging," said Rose.

Along with Martinsville, multiple departments came to help including Green Knoll Fire, Warren Fire, Washington Valley Fire, Mount Bethel Fire, Millstone Valley Fire, Bound Brook Fire, South Bound Brook Fire, Flagtown Fire, Bernardsville Fire, Pottersville Fire, Peapack Gladstone Fire, Finderne Fire, Martinsville Rescue, Somerset County EMS Coordinators, Somerset County Fire Coordinators, Bridgewater Police, and the NJ State Forestry Service.
"We truly thank everyone who assisted while we dealt with this difficult fire!" said Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department. "It has been a very challenging weekend for our volunteer responders and fire department."
