2 Men Charged With Attempted Murder In Somerville Shooting
Gunshots were reportedly fired into an occupied home in Somerville on May 23, authorities say.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — A Somerville man was among two men to be charged with attempted murder following a shooting in the borough on May 23.
At around 2:44 a.m., gunshots were reported in the area of Third Street and Center Street, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Somerville Police found damage to an occupied home which was caused by gunshots, said Robertson. No injuries were reported. Read More: Police Investigate Gunshots Fired In Somerville

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Somerville Police Department investigated and identified Ronnie Lyles, 51, of Hudson Street in Phillipsburg, and Miguel A. Hernandez, 37, of Division Street in Somerville as being involved in the shooting, said Robertson.
Lyles was taken into custody on June 1 without incident and charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Hernandez was taken into custody on Friday without incident and charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Hernandez and Lyles were lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing in this matter.
The matter remains an active ongoing investigation into the motive for the shooting.
