8 Dogs Flown From Louisiana, Rescued By Somerset Animal Shelter
The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter took in 8 dogs on Thursday and 8 more are coming this week. Donations are needed to care for the dogs.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — After freezing temperatures and flooding ravaged Louisiana, eight dogs were flown into New Jersey and taken in by Somerset Regional Animal Shelter on Thursday. And more dogs are expected to arrive this week.
"Many families are homeless from floods and frozen pipes. They are surrendering their pets to the shelters or just abandoning them," said SRAS director Brian Bradshaw.
The eight dogs were flown in from DeSoto Parish Animal Services in Louisiana and arrived at Sky Manor Airport in Pittstown on Thursday. SRAS volunteers brought the dogs back to their shelter at 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater.

Bradshaw said eight more dogs are coming this week.
Taking in these dogs requires more expenses to care for them. As a result, Bradshaw said the shelter, which runs on donations, is in need of food and supplies and monetary donations.
