94 Deer Killed In Somerset County Hunt

A total of 8 Bucks, 20 Button Bucks, 8 Sheds and 58 Does​ were killed during the 35 days of the hunt in Bridgewater parks for 2017.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A total of 94 deer were killed in the hunt conducted at Bridgewater parks as part of the 2017 Somerset County Park Commission’s deer management program.

The deer count for 2017 season is 19 more than in the 2015-2016 season with 75 deer, according to Chris Poulsen, Director of Human Services in Bridgewater.

A total of 8 Bucks, 20 Button Bucks, 8 Sheds and 58 Does were killed during the 35 days of the hunt.

The hunt took place at Washington Valley County Park and Duke Island Park on select dates in January and February.

  • Maolucci Tract Washington Valley Road - 10 Days; 1 Bucks; 1 Button Buck; O Sheds; 5 Does; 7 Total.
  • Chipman Tract/Duke Island Park - 6 Days; 3 Bucks; 5 Button Bucks; 3 Sheds; 17 Does; 28 Total.
  • Gene King Park - 12 Days; 0 Buck; 4 Button Bucks; 1 Shed; 5 Does; 10 Total.
  • Washington Valley County Park - 7 Days; 4 Buck; 10 Button Bucks; 4 Sheds; 31 Does; 49 Total.
  • Total - 35 Days; 8 Bucks; 20 Button Bucks; 8 Sheds; 58 Does; 94 Total.
