All Bridgewater Schools Close On Wednesday Due To Flooding

Major flooding is already occurring at Somerset County rivers.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ ? All Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Schools will now be closed on Wednesday due to multiple road closures and the inability to provide bussing, the district announced Wednesday morning.

Schools initially had a two-hour delayed opening on Wednesday before the district made the change this morning.

"We offer our sincere apologies for the late notice and inconvenience," said the district.

Multiple Somerset County rivers are already at the major flood stage prompting Somerset County to issue a State of Emergency that remains in effect for the duration of the storm.

"All non-essential travel should be curtailed, and only essential vehicles should be on the road," according to the County.

Additionally, there are several Somerset County rivers already majorly flooding as of 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The North Branch River at South Branch is already at the major flood stage at 13.33 feet.

The Lamington (Black) River at Burnt Mills in Bedminster is also at the major flood stage at 13.74 feet.

The Millstone River at Griggstown is at the major flood stage at 15.06 feet.

The Raritan River at Manville is currently at the minor flood stage at 14.83 feet and expected to rise to 19.4 feet, the moderate flood stage, before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
