BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Alstede Farms is expanding and opening a new farm stand in Bridgewater.

The stand at 831 Route 202/206 in Bridgewater, where the old Linda’s Farm Stand used to be, will be the second farm stand and third overall store for the Chester-based farm.

Alstede Farm's Branch Manager Kyle Holman said they are planning to open on Saturday, May 1.

"We have always looked at Bridgewater or Bedminster to potentially expand. Our core customer base is in that area," said Holman. "We are very excited to expand our territory a little bit."

The Bridgewater stand will offer all of the "homegrown" produce that customers of Alstede Farms already are familiar with.

The stand will also serve as a pickup for the farm's CSA program. Customers can pick up their weekly box of produce at the Bridgewater location.

Additionally, Holmes said one of the farm's key initiatives this year is get people to understand how to eat in season.

Larger supermarkets offer produce items 365 days a year, but Holmes said this is not realistic or fresh.

"We want to teach people when produce is available to pick and when to purchase produce and when is the best time to consume it," said Holman.
