Beloved Bound Brook First Responder Dies At 62
Edward Gruszecki was a member of the Bound Brook Rescue Squad, the Bound Brook Fire Department and Finderne Fire Department.

BOUND BROOK, NJ — A Bound Brook Rescue Squad member, Edward J. Gruszecki died at age 62 on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at R.W.J.U.H. Somerset.
"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of a selfless volunteer, friend and longtime member of the Bound Brook Rescue Squad. Ed will be sorely missed as he worked hand in hand with the members of this department on countless emergency medical calls. Bound Brook has lost a great asset and dedicated member of the community. Our deepest condolences go out to Ed's family," Bound Brook Police Department posted.

Son of the late Walter and Dorothy Gruszecki, Ed was a lifelong resident of Bound Brook. He was a 1973 graduate of Bound Brook High School. Ed worked for the ARC of Somerset County in Manville in the maintenance department, and formerly worked at J&J Pharmaceutical in Raritan and Union Carbide.
He was a longtime member of the Bound Brook Rescue Squad; an exempt firefighter for the Bound Brook Fire Department and former member of the Finderne Fire Department.

One of his favorite pastimes was being with his grandchildren.
Ed is predeceased by his brother, Douglas Gruszecki.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Cynthia B. (Colalillo) Gruszecki of Bound Brook; son, James W. Gruszecki and fiancé, Melissa of Bound Brook; step-sons, Timothy M. Knapp and wife, Kate of W. Deptford, Christopher G. Knapp of Bound Brook; grandchildren, Emma, Garrett, Tristan; sister, Frances Bassett and husband, Greg of Basking Ridge; and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held form 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bound Brook Rescue Squad.
