Bonnie Is Home: Dog Who Ran Away After Owner Hit By Car In Bound Brook

Bonnie had been missing for almost one week before she returned home on Monday.

BOUND BROOK, NJ ? Bonnie is home! Bound Brook Police announced Monday that the female Sheltie, who went missing after her owner was hit by a car in Bound Brook, has returned home almost a week later.

Bonnie had been missing since last Tuesday when her owner was hit by a car. A reward and search was then offered in hopes of finding her.

"Bonnie has returned home!" said police around 2:35 p.m. in an update.

The motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian was reported on Dec. 12 at around 7:16 a.m. when Bound Brook Police went to the area of Crusader Way and Washington Street.

Officers found a 63-year-old Bound Brook resident who had been hit by a vehicle.

Officers and Emergency Medical personnel from Bound Brook EMS provided medical care and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, said Bound Brook Police Chief Richard S. Colombaroni.

The pedestrian was walking her Sheltie, "Bonnie" who ran from the scene following the crash.

Police are conducting the investigation.
