Bridgewater Boy Undergoes Surgery After Rare Tumor Found On Spine
The community is rallying around a Bridgewater family as medical bills pile up and they await the results of a biopsy of the large mass.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ ? It's a nightmare that no family wants to face especially right before Christmas.
A week ago, doctors told the Feeney family of Bridgewater that their firstborn son, Logan, had a large mass on his spinal cord.
The rare tumor was in a tricky and rare location causing surgeons to take nine hours to remove the majority of it to avoid causing any damage to his spinal cord or any complications.

Since some thin microscopic layers of the tumor were unable to be removed without causing more damage, Logan will need radiation, according to his mom Jennifer.
Radiation will start in two to three weeks when he heals and it will be five days a week for six weeks. Logan will also need physical therapy to regain his strength.

"The tumor is most likely an ependymoma but we don?t have a biopsy yet and honestly, that?s the biggest thing we need positive news for. This has to be benign," said Jennifer.
To get Logan to and from his treatments, his father Kevin may have to stop working for those six weeks adding more to their financial strain.
While the family awaits the results of the biopsy to see if the tumor is cancerous, Jennifer's sister Lori Badger has set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to help cover the "huge, terrifying bill from the hospital."
"That is ONE worry that we can help take away, so I?m setting up this GoFundMe to try to cover the cost of the hospital bills that my sister will have to pay above what insurance covers, which is likely to be anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000 or more," said Badger.
Badger is asking the community to donate anything they can to help the Feeney family.
"Please send as much healing and positive energy to Logan as you can. He?s such a GREAT kid, funny and creative and kind. We need him to have a full, 100 percent recovery from this unexpected and awful disease," said Badger.
