Bridgewater Offers Safe, Healthy Halloween Guide

Planning to celebrate Halloween? Bridgewater is offering tips for trick-or-treating, handing out candy, and other Halloween activities.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater is offering a guide for families to enjoy a safe and healthy Halloween.

Low-Risk Halloween Fun

  • Pumpkins: Carve/decorate pumpkins outdoors with friends, keeping at least 6 feet apart
  • "Scavenger Hunt": Give kids a list of Halloween decorations to find in the neighborhood
  • Movie Night: Watch a Halloween-themed movie with the people in your household
  • Costume Contest: Meet virtually with friends on video chat to show off your costumes
  • Halloween Hunt: Hide candy around your yard or inside your house and let kids hunt for it. Try it after dark to make it extra spooky.

Tips for Trick-or-Treating

  • Wear a protective face mask (not a costume mask)
  • Consider wearing gloves or sanitize your hands between houses
  • If you trick-or-treat with people outside your household, keep 6 feet apart

If you want to give out candy

  • Leave out individual portions of candy in front of your home. Ideally, they should be spread out, not in a bowl, so that each child only touches one.
  • If you want to hand out candy, please wear a mask and gloves.
