BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Are you looking out your window to a snow-covered roadway? Bridgewater Township says DPW employees are still hard at work trying to clear snow as of Tuesday afternoon. Here is the latest update:

Bridgewater was hit hard by the snowstorm, measuring at 23 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

"This is the most significant snow event that we have experienced in many years not only due to the amount but also the duration of the event. Our DPW continues to work hard and make progress clearing snow accumulation off of our over 600 municipal roadways," according to Bridgewater.

The DPW focused on keeping emergency routes cleared in case of emergencies during the height of the storm.

Additionally, the township said it experienced mechanical issues where all but one of the six contractors hired to clear roads had equipment break down. The township also had some maintenance issues on its own fleet as well.

"If your street is not yet passable, this is likely the cause and our DPW is making every effort to fill the gaps as soon as possible," according to Bridgewater. "At this time, we estimate that 75 to 80 percent of Township roadways are at least passable, if not cleared from curb to curb. While we realize this is of little solace to residents on roads that are not cleared, please know that you are not forgotten and we will not stop until all roads are clear."
