BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bridgewater teacher from Basking Ridge is accused of harassing and stalking a 17-year-old girl who was victimized by a traveling field hockey coach in the area, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

The investigation into Biondi stemmed from the conviction of field hockey coach Brett Clay. Biondi, is employed as a teacher with the Bridgewater Township School district, who had ties to the field hockey community, and Clay.

In February, Clay was convicted of fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact after he admitted that he tried to have sexual contact with a young girl who he coached.

The victim reported that Clay sent her numerous sexual messages and offered to send her money in exchange for sexual content.

McDonald said Biondi openly supported Clay during his criminal matter and tried to recruit other field hockey families to provide their support for him.

After Clay's conviction, friends and community members of the victim?s family reported anonymous handwritten letters were being sent to people known to her.

"These letters were harassing in nature and contained lewd, indecent, and obscene messages about the victim," said McDonald.

In addition to the letters, the victim?s friends were also being contacted through social media by an anonymous person who made similar harassing, damaging and disparaging statements about the victim, according to an investigation by the An investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor?s Office Special Victim?s Unit.

Biondi was found to have sent the social media messages, said McDonald.

"Despite Clay?s conviction and admission of guilt, Biondi began a relentless campaign to attack the victim of the offense," said McDonald.

"Biondi manufactured outright lies about the victim and anonymously sent those blatantly false statements to the victim?s friends, teammates and classmates. The purpose of these meritless false statements was to harass and revictimize the victim," said McDonald.

Biondi allegedly called the young victim a "liar" despite knowing that Clay had admitted the allegations.

On Thursday, police conducted a search to look for additional documents.

Biondi was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a hearing on this matter.
