Bridgewater Teacher Pens Book Examining Power In The Presidency
Social Studies teacher Michael Trapani published "Panic in the Senate," which looks at how much power the President ought to have.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School teacher, Michael Trapani, has been teaching U.S. History for the past 15 years.
It wasn't until then-President Donald Trump was undergoing the first impeachment hearing that Trapani was spurred into writing his first book, "Panic in the Senate: The Fight Over the Second Bank of the United States and the American Presidency."
"The topic kind of fell into my lap," said Trapani.

"When Trump was acquitted the first time around in the impeachment hearing the Governor of West Virginia said in an interview he wanted to move to have Trump censored. It never went anywhere. But I knew from my teaching experience that the only president who was censored was Andrew Jackson. And then it was expunged," said Trapani.
From there Trapani began to research how the censorship of Jackson "went down."

"I wanted to see how it came to fruition. I began researching and that in itself was a story to be told," said Trapani.
The pandemic worked in Trapani's favor as he did more of his research from January to September 2020.
The story resonates with Americans who follow the news today as it "analyzes the heated debates in Washington and throughout the country over how much power the President ought to have, and how much the central bank (now called "the Fed") could exercise in controling the nation's economy," according to the book description.
The book was published by Algora Publishing and released in March.
"It's a surreal feeling to write something and to see it out there for public consumption," said Trapani.
