BRMS Students Receive Elks Scholarships

Several middle school students, including two from Bridgewater, were awarded scholar citizen awards from the Somerville Elks Lodge #1068.
Trisha Kaundinya and Tony Colarusso, from Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, were awarded scholarships for finishing the school year with strong academic records and contributions to their school and community.
According to a release from the Elks, the scholarships were given this year in memory of Frank “Nap” Torpey, a community and civic leader in Somerset County.

The students were selected by principals and teachers for academic excellence, outstanding character and contributions to school and community.
They each received $100, and certificates from the Elks and state legislators.

“In addition to their solid classroom work, these students showed the maturity, character and leadership that define good citizenship,” Somerville Elks Scholarship Chairman Ron Czajkowski said in the release.
Also receiving the scholarships this year were:
- Joshua Clarkson, of Somerville Middle School
- Kristin Ferrer, of Somerville Middle School
- Ann Brunn, of Immaculate Conception School
- Andrew Simon, of Immaculate Conception School
- Olivia Massey, of Branchburg Middle School
- Thomas England, of Branchburg Middle School
