For the second year in a row, the coronavirus pandemic has caused the 2021 Somerville Saint Patrick's Parade to be postponed.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — For the second year in a row, the coronavirus pandemic has caused the 2021 Somerville Saint Patrick’s Parade to be postponed until next year.

The Somerville Saint Patrick’s Parade Committee announced its decision on Wednesday night noting the hard work being done by front-line heroes.

"We want to assure we are doing everything possible to not make their jobs more difficult during this pandemic and continue to minimize the spread of this disease within our communities and our families," stated the committee.

"The 2022 Saint Patrick's Parade will be a very special parade honoring Saint Patrick and those whose call to service has made a difference in our communities during these trying times," stated the committee.

The first St. Patrick's Day Parade on record in Somerville was held in 1984. It began at Duke Island Park and traveled to downtown Somerville.
