NEW JERSEY — Gov. Phil Murphy and New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy will be rolling up their sleeves to get their COVID-19 vaccine appointments on Friday.

The couple became eligible for the vaccine on Monday because they met the 55-year-old and over requirement. Murphy and his wife registered on Tuesday to get their first doses at the Atlantic City mega-site on Friday.

The couple was already planning on visiting the convention center when they decided to sign up for the vaccination.

A video shared by the governor shows Murphy and his wife signing up online on the AlanticCare website.

"Easy as pie, number one," Murphy said of signing up during the video. "Number two there is a lot of availability for appointments in Atlantic City. I am not sure that is the case around the state. I was at the FEMA site in Newark today and it was packed. But there is a lot of availability in Atlantic City and this was dead easy to do."

"When it's your turn, we urge you to roll up your sleeve and get vaccinated," tweeted Murphy.

As of Wednesday, roughly 1.9 million residents have been fully vaccinated in New Jersey. This brings the state to 40 percent of its goal to have 4.7 million residents fully vaccinated by the end of June.
