I-287 Road Work To Last Weeks In Somerset, Middlesex Counties
Work will begin on I-287 North on Monday and continue for several weeks from Exit 5 in South Plainfield through Exit 13A in Bridgewater.
SOMERSET/MIDDLESEX COUNTIES, NJ — Daytime ramp work will begin next week on I-287 north beginning in Middlesex County and ending in Somerset County, New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced.
Work will begin on Monday at 7 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. and continue Monday through Friday for several weeks. NJDOT's contractor, Della Pello Paving will work on various ramps to and from I-287 northbound for inlet replacement and curb repairs.
Construction will begin at Exit 5 Stelton Road/CR 529 in South Plainfield and includes the ramps for about seven miles through Piscataway and Franklin, ending at the bridge over Main Street/CR 533 just before Exit 13A in Bridgewater.

As the project advances, overnight lane and ramp closures will be required for milling and paving of I-287 northbound and the ramps. More information will be released on any lane or ramp closures at a later time.
The work is part of the NJDOT's $13.4 millionMaintenance Roadway Repair project, which will resurface about seven miles of the highway including travel lanes, shoulders, and ramps.

I-287 southbound will be completed under a separate project that is scheduled to begin in 2021.
