John T. Birmingham, 71, Formerly Of Bridgewater Died Saturday

Birmingham​ was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran and a lifelong member of the NRA and the VFW Post 2290 in Manville.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — John T. Birmingham, 71, formerly of Bridgewater died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at R.W.J.U.H. Somerset.

Son of the late William and Charlotte Birmingham, he was born in Summit and lived in Westfield and Bridgewater before moving to Hillsborough 31 years ago.

He was a graduate of Admiral Farragut Naval Academy in Florida and also attended Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Birmingham was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran. He worked in sales and was employed over the years for Buffalo Tank Co., Silicon Valley Group and lastly, Home Depot in the Home Services Division.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going fishing with his son and taking trips to the casino’s, according to his obituary.

He was a lifelong member of the NRA and the VFW Post 2290 in Manville.

Birmingham is predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Gardner.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Lois A. (Proskura) Birmingham of Hillsborough; son, John T. Birmingham, Jr.; brother, Bill Birmingham and wife, Billie of FL; and sister, Priscilla Bardach and husband, Joel of IN. He will also be missed by his beloved rottweiler “Diesel”.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7- to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 10 a.m. on Thursday.
