The parade was held down Old York Road.

The American Legion Post 203 in Bridgewater held its annual parade Monday, honoring those soldiers who have given their lives for their country.

"We gather to honor the men and women who paid the ultimate price to preserve our nation's freedom," Mayor Dan Hayes said during the ceremony following the parade.

The parade—which included the Bridgewater-Raritan High School marching band, color guard, fire companies, local Girl Scouts, the Bradley Gardens Little Loop and local dignitaries—walked down Old York Road from Beach Street to Ardmaer Field.

But the overall message of the day was remembering those who have served.

"Understand the time we enjoy with our family, our friends, is because of the sacrifices [veterans] have made for our country," Hayes said. "On behalf of the people of Bridgewater, I offer my gratitude and prayers to the families of those who have given their lives."
