BRIDGEWATER, NJ — There are plenty of dogs and cats desperately looking for their "furever" home at Somerset Regional Animal Shelter.

The volunteer-run shelter at 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater relies on adoption fees to continue to care for new pets and to keep the shelter running.

Caelan is a friendly, 6-month-old Mountain Cur mix that is looking for a new family. He likes to play with tennis balls, but can be a bit pushy/mouthy at times. He will need a savvy owner, that has no small children (teens and up), to give him consistent training so that he can thrive in his new home. He will be around 40 pounds when he reaches maturity.

Poor Drako hasn't had any meet and greets and we are not sure why?

Drako is an affectionate 2-year-old Pitbull/ bulldog mix that is looking for a new family. He is social and would love an active family that can provide lots of exercise and training. He is doing great with obedience training and is learning sit and down. He's eager to please and wants to work!

When playing in the yard, Drako is rarely seen without his tennis ball in his mouth! Drako is looking for a home with no small children due to his energy level and strength. He would do best with a fenced in yard as he is still working on his leash manners but does very well playing ball in the yard. He's pretty much potty trained but might need a tune up so that he learns the routine.

Minx is a 9-month-old male kitten looking for a home. He is nervous here at the shelter and will need a quiet home where he can continue to gain confidence and come out of his shell. His foster home reports that in the home Minx enjoys attention and being pet and was good with other dogs and cats with proper introduction. It takes time for him to trust but with time and patience we hope to see him blossom into a wonderful companion.

Abu has been with us for a while and we are not quite sure why.

He is a sweet 3-year-old male Retriever mix that is looking for a new family. He is a strong boy who enjoys going for long walks. Abu is looking for an adult-only home that has the time to train and socialize him. He enjoys training and does well when he knows what's expected and is given direction. Abu enjoys being active and likes to play fetch and long walks.

Currently, adoptions are by appointment only. Interested adopters should download an application at srasnj.org, email it to info@srasnj.org, then call 908-725-0308 to discuss details.
