No Evidence Of Voter Fraud In Somerset County Election
As unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud in the recent election are being made, Somerset County reports no evidence of this.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — As President Donald Trump and some Republican lawmakers continue to make unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud in the recent election, Somerset County reports no evidence of this.
"The election went amazingly smooth. We had a lot of voters eager to vote," said Nathan Rudy, spokesman for Somerset County. "We saw no evidence of issues that would affect the outcome of the election."
In Somerset County, Rudy said employees counted about 75 percent of the ballots on election night. The county expected about 180,0000 ballots to come in and of those 141,000 were counted on Nov. 3, according to Rudy.

As of Friday, Rudy said there are about 11,000 vote-by-mail ballots left to count and then provisional ballots will be counted.
Somerset County saw a record number of people who came out to vote, Rudy said.

With more than 180,000 votes counted for 2020 versus just over 160,000 votes in the 2016 Presidential election.
An update in the vote total is expected to be posted later in the day on Friday and provisional ballots are expected to begin being counted on Monday.
The earliest votes are expected to be certified is next Friday, on Nov. 20.
Trump's campaign filed an election lawsuit Monday, which aims to stop the Pennsylvania Department of State from certifying the final election results. It is one of numerous cases brought forth by the Trump campaign around the country seeking to cast doubt on the validity of the 2020 election.
On Thursday night, the Cleveland, Ohio-based firm Porter Wright Morris and Arthur who were representing the Trump campaign have withdrawn themselves from the suit. Read More: Law Firm Representing Trump In PA Election Lawsuit Withdraws
No hearing date has yet been scheduled for the case. Other lawyers attached to the case will take over representation of the Trump campaign.
The 85-page filing asserts, without evidence, that mail-in balloting was not held to the same security standards as in-person voting, and that the state broke the law in other Election Day proceedings. Details here.
