The cats, some starving and infected, were found after a neighbor complained of a bad odor coming from the home: St. Hubert's Animal Center.
SOUTH BOUND BROOK, NJ — More than 100 cats and kittens have been rescued, who authorities say were neglected and suffering from malnutrition and infections, were rescued from a home in South Bound Brook by St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center. (See videos of the rescue below)
A neighbor called police to complain about a foul odor coming from the South Bound Brook home. South Bound Brook Police and St. Hubert's animal control officers came out and found dozens of cats and kittens living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, according to St. Hubert's.
The resident gave up custody of the cats to St. Hubert's and animal control officers began removing cats from the home on Wednesday and continued on Thursday and Friday due to the number of household items and debris the officers have to sift through.
