Police Crack Down On Speeding, Reckless Driving On Route 22
Bound Brook, Bridgewater, and Green Brook Police are cracking down after area residents complained about people possibly racing on Route 22.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater, Bound Brook and Green Brook Police are cracking down on speeders and reckless drivers after area residents complained of people possibly speeding on Route 22.
"While we have not caught anyone actually racing, we have issued some notable summonses," said Bound Brook Police Department.
Bound Brook Officer Keith Kilgore stopped and issued a summons about a month ago to someone driving 116 mph. He just recently topped that when he pulled someone over for doing 141 mph.

"Speed kills, and the last thing we want is to have to knock on your family's door in the middle of the night," said Bound Brook Police Department.
Recently, on May 26, a Manville man was killed driving down Route 22 East in Bound Brook. Authorities found the car on the grassy and wooded side of Route 22 in Bound Brook and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Read More: Manville Driver Killed In Route 22 Crash On Bridgewater Border

Bridgewater Police Captain John Mitzak noted that the department will periodically put togther details to enforce reckless driving since the stretch of Route 22 in Bridgewater is "where the majority of our crashes occur."
Bridgewater Police were out on the highway on Wednesday and the detail was led by one lieutenant, a traffic sergeant and about 4 to 6 officers.
"We focus on speeding, reckless driving, cell phone and unsafe driving infractions on the Route 22 corridor," said Mitzak.
Bridgewater Police have caught people speeding over 100 mph and as of Wednesday caught someone going 88 mph, so far, according to Mitzak.
"Please stop speeding, we will catch you!" said Bound Brook Police Department.
