Police Rescue Trapped Driver In Overturned Crash On Route 22 In Bridgewater

The driver was taken to the hospital on Saturday with minor injuries, said police.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ ? Police rescued a trapped driver from an overturned crash on Route 22 in Bridgewater on Saturday.

At around 3:10 a.m., Bridgewater Township Police Officers responded to the area of Route 22 East near Morgan Lane for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Officers found a 2017 Toyota Camry that had overturned in a wooded area within the center median, said Sergeant Kevin Florczak.

The driver, identified as Kumar Ramesh, 46, of West Hempstead, NY, was found trapped inside the vehicle, said Florczak.

Officers were able to rescue Ramesh, who had minor injuries. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

A preliminary investigation determined that Ramesh was driving east on Route 22 when he lost control of his Toyota on the wet roadway, causing the car to leave the highway and overturn in the median.

Anyone with information related to this crash is asked to contact the Bridgewater Police Department at 908-722-4111.

The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, also responded to help.

The fire department is always looking for volunteers.
