Thursday Program Aimed at Preventing Drug Abuse
Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is holding a session for parents in Bridgewater.

The Bridgewater Township Municipal Alliance Committee will be hosting a parenting program concerning substance abuse prevention among students.
The program will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bridgewater Municipal Complex on Commons Way.
The program is open to all parents and caregivers in Somerset County, and it will feature informational exhibits from partners in the Municipal Alliance Committee.

Called the “15 Minute Child Break Program,” the program is a one-hour multimedia presentation through the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey. The session, according to a release from Bridgewater Township, will including information on the role the parent plays in preventing substance abuse.
Some of the topics to be covered at the presentation will include how to talk to children about drugs, signs that they are using or abusing, drug terminology and substance use trends.

The presentation, the release said, is expected to be used as an opportunity to help parents understand the role they play in turning their children away from drug and alcohol abuse.
The information will come from research gathered by the PDFNJ’s Center for Prevention Research, and is done in cooperation with the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse and the New Jersey Department of Human Services.
The program is free and does not require registration.
