The Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP) is accepting registration for the 49th Annual Robert G. Ransone Golf Classic, the longest continuously running golf event in Somerset County. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the acclaimed New Jersey National Golf Course, 579 Allen Road, Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
New Jersey National is an 18-hole championship golf course on 260-acres of rolling terrain in the Watchung Mountains that provides the perfect combination of spectacular play and a challenging layout.
Due to COVID –19 concerns, the outing will be limited to the first 80 golfers registering and social distancing protocols will be in place.

Registration and coffee will begin at 9:00 A.M. Golf carts will be supplied with a boxed breakfast in preparation for the 10:00 A.M. shotgun start. Sandwiches, chili, and a BBQ with hamburgers and hot dogs will be available at the turn along with refills on refreshments.. A snack box will be available following play to take home.
“Following more than 12 months of varied levels of self-imposed isolation, we decided that it would be beneficial to move the Ransone Classic from the fall to the spring,” explained Phil Decker, Golf Committee member. “We are presenting an opportunity to get out in some nice weather, play some golf, and network in person for the first time in a very long time.”

Registration fee for an SCBP member individual golfer is $200. SCBP member foursomes are also available for $750. Non-member are welcome as well. The event is named for Robert G. Ransone who began his career as Somerset County Director of Economic Development in 1967 and was instrumental in opening channels of communication between the county government and the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce, the predecessor organization to the Somerset County Business Partnership. He served as Chairman of the Chamber and organized the original golf tournament in 1972.
