Repairs Contracted for Gilbride Pump Station
Fix cannot wait due to 'emergency nature' of situation.

With one pump at the Gilbride Pump Station needing emergency repair, the township is contracting out for a fix before there are any future flooding concerns.
Township Administrator James Naples said there are three pumps at the Gilbride Pump Station, and significant work was done on them about nine years ago.
“It was to improve and do internal workings,” he said. “Nine years later, several of the pumps that are off warranty are beginning to fail.”

Naples said they do maintain the parts of the pumps in house, but one is currently beyond the ability to fix.
“We have a pump continuing to work, and a second with a part on order,” he said.

But, Naples said, they cannot wait on fixing it.
“It is an emergency nature because if the thing can’t be repaired and we have a high water system, that’s a problem,” he said.
The council approved a resolution June 17, allowing the township to immediately go out to order the part and fix the pump station.
The contract is to Reiner Pump Systems, in the amount of $38,300.
“The money comes from the sewer operating budget,” Naples said. “One pump is currently working, and we will probably put operating money next year toward replacing it.”
