Somerset County Partners With 8 Schools To Offer COVID-19 Vaccine
8 Somerset County school districts are offering the Pfizer shot to students ages 12 and older.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Some Somerset County students, ages 12 and up, can now get COVID-19 vaccinated through their school district.
Somerset County is partnering with eight school districts — Bernards, Franklin, Green Brook, North Plainfield, South Bound Brook, Watchung, Watchung Hills Regional, and Warren school districts — to offer closed clinics for students.
"Somerset County has been a leader in the race to vaccinate every adult who wants to be vaccinated, and with these school partnerships we are leading in vaccinating our youth, as well," said Somerset County Commissioner Douglas Singleterry, liaison to the Department of Health.

Parents who want to have their child vaccinated through their school must register for an appointment with their local district office. A parent or guardian must accompany the minor to the vaccination clinic and sign a consent form. A full list of all Somerset County schools (not all are offering the clinics) is available online here.
"We're extremely happy that Somerset County reached out to help vaccinate our students while they are still in school this year and that our office can assist in the effort," said Interim Executive Somerset County Superintendent of Schools Roger Jinks. "Somerset County’s outreach with the Pfizer vaccine will make it easier to build confidence with students, staff, and parents that we will have a safe full opening of the schools in the fall."

The program began last week with the Green Brook School District where more than 150 residents between 12 and 18 were vaccinated. This week will see South Bound Book, North Plainfield, and Franklin schools hosting clinics, and next week will see Watchung, Warren, Watchung Hills and Bernards schools vaccinating students. The Somerset County Department of Health will return three weeks from each clinic to provide the second dose.
The program is being offered at no charge to the district or students.
School districts that have not yet scheduled a clinic can do so by reaching out to the Somerset County Department of Health at 908-231-7155.
Students who wish to get the Pfizer vaccine and their school is not on the list can stop by the C County's vaccination clinic on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Senior Wellness Center at 876 E. Main St. in Bridgewater.
