Splash Pad For Kids, Special Needs Adults Opens In Bridgewater
The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC opened the splash pad last week, which includes a gigantic water tower, rain shower, sprayers, and more.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Get ready to cool off as the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center in Bridgewater has launched its own splash pad.
The splash pad was a donor gift from the community to be used for JCC camp and pool club members, and special needs adults at the center.
The pad uses eco-friendly water and has a rubber padding. It offers 16 elements including floor water squirters, a tremendous water tower, 2 dolphin sprayers, a rain shower, and more.

"It is meant for any age. Kids and special needs adults," said JCC Executive Director Laura Friedman.
With many families remaining local for the summer due to the coronavirus, Friedman said the splash pad is a great option for parents looking for activities to entertain their kids.

Memberships are still open at JCC in Bridgewater, located at 775 Talamini Road, for summer only and year-round.
"We are proud of our splash pad. It feels great to open it and I know people are looking for things to do right now," Friedman said. "Having a family member with special needs or kids we know how important it is to add an activity to someone's schedule for the day."
Additionally, the pool and splash pad will most likely remain open for a longer summer season since most activities are "outdoor-centric" due to the pandemic.
"Normally our season runs until Labor Day but with public schools not running a full day we will extend it," Friedman said. "We are also offering wrap-around programs for the working parent."
