SWAT Team Finds Dead Woman, Arrests Man in Somerville

Somerset County SWAT was called after reports of shots being fired at a home in Somerville on Sunday.

SOMERVILLE, NJ ? A woman was found dead, and a man inside the home was arrested following a SWAT situation on Sunday in Somerville.

At around 1 p.m., Somerville and Bridgewater Police went to a home on Mastogen Drive for reports of shots fired.

Officers were unable to contact the residents. At around 2 p.m., the Somerset County SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators were called, said Somerset County Prosecutor?s Office Chief of Detectives Francisco Roman Jr.

After still being unable to contact the residents, SWAT team members went into the home and found an adult man. SWAT officers searched the home and found a dead woman, said Roman Jr. The man was taken to an area hospital under police guard.

Detectives from the Somerville Police Department, the Somerset County Prosecutor?s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner?s Office are investigating.

"The investigation is in the early stages of a death investigation; no additional details will be released until preliminary confirmation by investigators at the scene and the Medical Examiner?s Office," said Roman Jr.
